Be Still

S - Scripture:
Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.
O-OBSERVATION:
Psalm 46 is one of my favorite Psalms. It is loaded with good advice, especially for those of us who might be inclined to worry. In verse 1, it reminds us He is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble, and then in verse 2, therefore we will not fear. There are numerous verses in this Psalm that should set our mind at ease, because God is in control! What’s the problem? We, both literally and figuratively, are not still long enough to understand that God has our concern under control. The Psalmist says BE STILL, and know that I am God!
A-APPLICATION:
If you live where there are lots of lights, pick a clear night, take a drive out in the country, find an isolated area, turn off your car lights, and step outside and look up into the heavens and BE STILL and KNOW He is GOD. In the morning, read His Holy Word; Be Still and Know He is God. I’m writing this on the eve before Election Day, so let’s all remember, whatever happens, let’s think about this verse: Be still and know that He is God; He will be exalted among the nations, He will be exalted
in the earth.
P-PRAYER:
Gracious Father, we, sinful people, work ourselves into a stew over many things, and elections are one of those. I pray Lord, when the results are in, we can all understand that Your will was done and that Your Name will be exalted! Lord, we
are your people and we know the end of the story is eternity with You. Grant us peace in that thought.
In Jesus Name,Amen
