S - SCRIPTURE: John 4:23, 24 “But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to
worship Him. 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and truth.”
worship Him. 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and truth.”
O - OBSERVATION: We are doing a series on Worship at Alive In Christ, Worship is one of the Ministry Pillars on which we will build whatever future God has in store for us. Therefore this passage is the first one I thought of where scripture, specifically Jesus, speaks about the kind of worshiper’s the father is seeking. What does it mean to worship in Spirit and in truth? It is well that we examine this, because after all, verse 24 says those who worship the Father MUST worship in Spirit and in Truth.”
A - APPLICATION: I believe worshiping in “Truth” means to worship totally within the absolute truths of scripture, neither watering down the Inspired Word nor taking liberties with it. Worshiping in Spirit means our worship is totally dependent on the work of the Spirit in making scriptures truths our own. I think it also means that we must be “all in” at worship and not thinking about the rest of day. We should give 100% plus to worshiping a Holy God, Anything
less is not consistent with the sacrifice He made for us, but thanks be to God for the Grace He extends through Jesus to allow for our imperfections in worship as well as in our daily life.
P - PRAYER: Heavenly Father, as we think about worship, May we always be searching for what Your Word is telling us. May we seek the Spirit’s guidance and May we always remember that
Jesus died for our shortcomings. In His Name we pray, Amen
