S - SCRIPTURE: John 14:26niv. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
O - OBSERVATION: So, the Holy Spirit is the teacher of all things regarding God’s Holy Word and the truths of the Gospel. Without the Spirit, we cannot understand the beautiful message of salvation. The meaning of the 3rd article of the Apostles Creed states it very plainly. “ I believe that I cannot by my own reason or strength believe in Jesus Christ my Lord or come to
Him, but the Holy Spirit calls, gathers, enlightens, and sanctifies me and keeps me in the true faith.”
Him, but the Holy Spirit calls, gathers, enlightens, and sanctifies me and keeps me in the true faith.”
A - APPLICATION: The Holy Spirit has many names, among them, Counselor, Comforter, Keeper, and Teacher, for he does all of these things. The verse we are talking about says “He will teach you all things and remind you of everything I (Jesus) has said to you. The verse we are discussing today was spoken by Jesus and there is no question about it’s content, as there is no question about any of scripture as it was inspired by God. (2 Timothy 3:16.) Bottom line, without God’s Holy Spirit, we have no understanding of God’s plan of salvation. God is the Author and Finisher of our faith, Hebrews 12:2. So as a finish carpenter sands and varnishes the woodwork to bring out the inherent beauty of the grain in the wood, so God’s Spirit works in us to
bring out the beauty of a mature faith in we His people. The total beauty of our faith will only be realized in eternity with Him!

P - PRAYER: Gracious Father, Without You, Lord, we could never achieve heaven on our own, but with Your gift of the Spirit to work faith and understanding in our hearts of the great work Jesus has done for us on the cross, we have the assurance of eternity with You! Thank You Lord! In Jesus Name, Amen
