Supplication

 Guest Blog by Gary Riedel

S - SCRIPTURE: Philippians 4:6 The Lord is at hand, do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

O - OBSERVATION: What a beautiful verse! Excellent advice but I wanted to say a bit about supplication; according to the dictionary, it’s asking for something earnestly and humbly, maybe even from your knees. That’s the only way we should ask for anything from our Heavenly Father, we are so grateful for His grace.

A - APPLICATION: There is a lot of anxiousness’s in our culture, people try to diminish it with drugs, alcohol, and any number of obsessive habits. This verse offers a different tactic; We should pray earnestly and humbly, remembering without Jesus, we would be without hope, God took care of our biggest fear when we were redeemed by the blood of Jesus. One other thought, we should pray with thanksgiving, recognizing that before Christ paid the price, the throne of God was much less accessible to our prayers. Give thanks then that we have a mediator between God and man, namely Christ Jesus.

P - PRAYER: Heavenly Father, with thankful and humble hearts we come before You, thanking You for Jesus and His interceding for our earnest prayers. We thank You for the gift of prayer, may we always remember to pray earnestly and humbly, with thanksgiving. In Jesus Name, Amen
