S - Scripture:

Psalm 86:5 For You, O Lord are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon You.

O - Observation:
This is a song of David written by a King who had a heart after God but was tempted and sinned

greatly not only with Bathsheba, but also by arranging for the death of her husband Uriah. But now see how beautifully David describes the grace of a loving God. His love is steadfast to all who call upon Him! He is good and forgiving, yearning for us to confess, 1 John 1:9, so that He might forgive us, cleanse us!

A - Application:
God didn’t stop loving David when He sinned and He doesn’t stop loving us when we sin; Rather, He pursues us, maybe allows us to be in a position of desperation like the Prodigal Son in Luke 15:11-32; so that we repent and are restored to righteousness by the blood of Jesus. Sometimes the position of despair is not as much physical as it is emotional, but nevertheless it cries for repentance and the healing balm of forgiveness.

P - Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help us to exhibit the same great love and forgiveness to others, as You so
steadfastly bestow on us. Our world desperately needs that! In Jesus Name, Amen
