The Book of Life

 The Book of Life

Guest Blog by Gary Riedel

S - SCRIPTURE:
Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, great and small standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.

O - OBSERVATION:
So now at last comes the “day of reckoning” or God’s judgment day. Does that strike fear into your hearts or do you anxiously await and pray “Come Lord Jesus Come”. How we feel about that is an indicator of our faith. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. This verse tells us that none of us will measure up to God’s perfection. However, we are saved by grace through faith , Ephesians 2:8. And it is a faith that the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin 1 John 1:7. We are eligible to be in the Book of Life because of faith in what Jesus did and still does for us.

A - APPLICATION:
This makes a strong case that we should be about strengthening our faith if we can. Now, God’s Spirit gives us faith so we need to position ourselves to be touched by the Spirit. Romans 10:17 So than faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Reading and hearing God’s Holy Word and seeking His Spirit are things we can do that will grow our faith. As Revelation plays out in real time our faith will be tested, let’s pray that God will allow us to be faithful even unto death that we may receive the Crown of Life Revelation 2:10b. The Crown of Life is having our name in the Book of Life!

P - PRAYER:
Gracious Father, Please grant that all who read this might on the Day of Judgment have their names in the Book of Life. Lord, strengthen our faith so that come what may, we will always remain steadfast in the faith until the end. In Jesus Name, Amen
