Event:
Herod’s Death
S - Scripture
Acts 12 v. 21-23a On an appointed day, Herod put on his royal robes, took his s
eat upon the throne, and made an oration to them. And the people shouted, "The voice of god, and not of man!" Immediately and angle of the Lord smote him, because he did not give God the glory.
O - Observation
Ego's. Denial. The Fact. This account address all of these points. Herod did not realize how serious God was when he gave the 1st Commandment. Exodus 20 v. 3, "You shall have NO other Gods before me. Herod may or may not have control of what the crowd said, but the fact is, he let them think and say he was God. (He did not give God the Glory for his position. For that, God denied Herod by smoting him. God quickly pointed out who was God, the true God, and who was not. Which gets down to Ego. Such a dangerous thing, Ego dries self-worship. Ego elevates you perhaps more than you should be. How to manage an ego? Remember 2 Corinthians 10 v. 17, "Let him who boasts, boast of the Lord."
A - Application
Am I keeping my ego in check? Am I boasting of the Lord?
P - Prayer
Jesus, All that I am and have is because of you. Thanks!!! Love WillPhoto by Orkun Azap on Unsplash
