Mother's Day Wisdom (by Gary Riedel)

Mother’s Day

Proverbs 31:10-31
Guest Post by Gary Riedel

Scripture: Vrs10-12 NIV “A wife of noble character, who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value”.

Vrs. 30 NIV “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised”.

Observation: I’ve chosen to confine my observations to the above verses from this text. What’s between these verses are expressions of the great love in a Godly women’s heart.

Verse 30 provides the answer to the question asked in verse 10, how do you find a
wife of noble character? Not by looking for charm or physical beauty, but by looking for one who LOVES the Lord! In all cases those who love the Lord will have a beauty of heart and spirit that never fades, even as the years go by. For those who love the Lord, will
manifest that love, in labors of love, for family, friends and strangers in ways both great and small. This comes not from from a compulsion, of feeling forced, but rather from the great love for God that is in their hearts, and spills forth naturally, in an abundance of serving and giving. How do I know that? By God’s Grace I’m married to such a wife! Furthermore, I see it in all of you, the ladies of our church.

Application: Since I’m a guy, I’m going to apply this from a man’s view. To do that we need to look at Eph 5:25; “Husbands love your wives, just as Christ loved the Church, and gave Himself up for her”. Jesus gave His very life for His bride the Church! So we too, as men, need to make our wives number one in our life, second only to the Heavenly Father, who gave them to us. Now we have a solid relationship, that’s ready to bring God’s Blessings
of children into this world. A family of God is born, that can promote this plan of God for generations to come, and make this world a better place, a place where God’s love is passed on in mission, until He comes again! And when anyone falls short, remember, from the cross, Jesus said; “It is finished “!

Prayer: Lord God, this is Mother’s Day, and we pray for every mother, that You would continue to give them Your strength, and Your endurance, we include also those with the heart of a mother who have not been given the gift of a child, especially during  this time when our lives have been altered by this virus. Lord, restore this nation to health, not just physical, but spiritual health!

Lord teach us to always put You first, and help us to raise up families who love You, and each other, the way You loved us, and gave  Your only Son for us, In Jesus Holy Name, Amen
