Contentment

Contentment

Guest Blog by Gary Riedel

Scripture:
1 Timothy 6:6 But Godliness with contentment is great gain.

Observation:
This verse is followed by one we often hear at funerals; “ We brought nothing into this world
and will take nothing out.” I believe God is telling us to follow His precepts and be satisfied with the life He has provided for us. Does that mean we should be  without ambition? Of course not, but we should not be so busy striving that God takes a back seat to anything!
Rather we should be content in the knowledge that God has us where He wants us and that He will provide for our daily needs as He sees fit. When He desires us to make a change, we will know it. The peace we feel living in surrender is the great gain that comes our way by trusting Him!

Application:
As a farmer I have learned, after all these years, that my well-being is not determined by how many acres I farm, but rather by trusting in God To Bless the acres He has given me to steward. My contentment is from a humble trust in His undeserved goodness and love!

Prayer:
Lord of all, please allow your Spirit to work a trusting , childlike faith in the hearts of all Your people in this place. In His Holy Name we pray, Amen
