Confession

Confession

guest blog by Gary Riedel

S - Scripture:
James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to one another and pray for each other so that you may
be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

O - Observation:
So how are we healed according to this verse? By confession and prayer, seems easy doesn’t it, a simple formula, except, we need to get down on our knees and admit that we’ve made mistakes, a mistake perhaps no human knows about, but we do, and God does, so in order to be healed we must confess, repent and pray or have someone pray for us and assure us of God’s forgiveness, 1 John 1:9.

A - Application:
So, how many of us walk around packing the burden of a sin we haven’t confessed. The devil loves that, and it robs our joy. It doesn’t have to be that way, for if we follow the formula in these verses, which were written for the benefit of God’s people, then we can claim the joy of a forgiven child of God!

P - Prayer:
Gracious Father, by the gift of Your Son, the way to righteousness has been paved with His
blood. By Your Spirit, May we confess our sins and be as clean as the new snow. In Jesus Name, Amen
