S - Scripture
Psalm 84 v. 11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield; he bestows favor and
honor. No good thing does the Lord withhold from those who walk uprightly.
O - Observation
Sun and Shield. An interesting pair of words to describe God. Sun provides life
to this earth. Plants need it to grow. We all need it to stay warm. The sun
also provides structure. Day and night. There's more to see and do during the
day than night. Great analogy for our God: provides us life, structure and
visibility. Shields provide protection. But a shield is useless if you don't
grab it and use it. Shields usually are painted or decorated to reflect a personality
or kingdom. So it is with our God, if we don't grab his words and use them in
our lives its useless.
A - Application
Do I recognize the favor of the sun and the honor of the shield of God?
