Seeking His Kingdom

Seeking His Kingdom

Guest Blog by Gary Riedel

Scripture:
Matthew 6:33 Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you.

Observation:
This verse comes after verse 31 which tells us not to be anxious about what to eat, drink, or wear. These are basic needs that every human desires so why does Jesus
warn us about seeking after these things? Jesus does not want the “seeking after” to take priority over our relationship with Him. 1 Peter 5:7 says “Cast all your care upon Him for He cares for you.” In humble submission we trust the Lord to provide a way for us to satisfy the necessities of life.

Application:
In my world, cash grain farming, over a lifetime I have learned how to do a lot of things to help achieve a successful harvest, but, in spite of experience and technology, the ultimate success is dependent on the Lord and His rain and sunshine. Without that, my efforts are in vain and the crop will fail.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help us to humbly seek your Kingdom first, knowing that You care enough to
provide for the days of our life, for You ultimately cared enough to provide for our eternity with You.  In Jesus Name, Amen
