S - Scripture
Psalm 78 v. 1 Give ear, O people, to my teaching; incline your ears to the
words of my mouth!
O - Observation
Active listening. That's what we need to be doing with the things God has to
say to us. Webster defines active as, "always doing things". So it
should be for us when it comes to digesting, learning God's word. We should
have personal reading time. Just you and the Bible. We should have corporate
time. Attendance at church with other believers hearing God's word. Reading
Christian books. Webster defines listen two ways, 1) Try to hear things. 2) Do
what someone suggests. Listening to God's word means, pausing, slowing down,
meditating on what's being said. Frequently, God says to be "still".
One can't hear if they are distracted with other things. Likewise, listen has
the component of doing. James 2 v. 17, "So faith by itself, if it has no
works is dead."
A - Application
How active am I listening to God's word?
P - Prayer
Jesus, Give me a passion to hear your words. Love Will
